INS Sindhurakshak facts, history, service to Indian Navy

INS Sindhurakshak was Indian Navy submarine buit in Rassia's shipyard from 1985 to 2000. INS Sindhurakshak was one of 10 Kilo Class Submarine capable to travel at a speed of 20 miles per hour under 900 feet from water surface.

INS Sindhurakshak sent back to Rassia for overhauling and refitting electrical accessories two and half years back and it rejoined Indian Navy in January 2013 this year. The cost of repair of INS Sindhurakshak submarine at Rassian base was around 480 Crores Rupees.

The total weight of Sindhurakshak submarine 2300 tonne and it was integrated with improved integrated weapon control system and electronic warfare systems. 

INS Sindhurakshak has fire incident history. First fire broke out in February 2010 at Visakhapatnam and one sailor of Indian Navy lost his life. Second time fire incident took place on 13th August 2013 at Mumbai base. INS Sindhurakshak sinked at Mumbai base after the fire tragedy just before the celebrations of Independence day of India.
