Raghuram Rajan panel report brings Multi Dimensional Index (MDI)

Raghuram Rajan's panel report introduces Multi Dimensional Index (MDI) for developing funds for most advanced and least developed states

Raghuram Rajan's panel report on states becomes public on 25th September 2013 formed by central government after special category demand from Bihar comes with Multi Dimensional Index to measure the development index of a state on multiple paramenters on a scale of 0 and 1.

According to commitee suggestions 28 states to be categorised into three categories least developed, less developed and relatively developed on the basis of their Multi Dimensional Index (MDI).

According to MDI Goa, Kerala, Tamilnadu, Punjab, Maharastra, Uttarakhand, Haryana are the most developed (relatively) states of India while Bihar and Odisha are least developed states. Narendra Modi's Gujarat state is ranked 12th among Indian states on MDI scale.
